Introduction
I asked the gaming community on Facebook and had tons of members explain to me how they made a small gaming desk work for their room.
You’ll also see in this article that a lot of people use Home Depot workbenches and it looks pretty great.
I did tons of original research for this article so you don’t have to, and I’m going to help you sift through all the information to give you the ultimate resource and helping you understand what type of gaming desk works for your small space.
What are the best Gaming Desks for Small Room Setups?

How To Decide What Type of Desk To Get
I created a super helpful decision tree so you can have an idea of what design would work best for your setup. See the image below.
If you have any further questions or comments, I will leave my email contact at the end of this article. For now, let’s get started.
Kitchen Worktop with Ikea Drawers
” I got a really cheap flat top from Ikea and used to drawers to support the entire setup. It was extremely cheap and I love it.” — Luke F. Valued responder a gaming PC enthusiasts
What I like about this setup is that you can choose from a variety of textures that also fit the drawers you might already have. You can get Ikea desks with the leg amount, but oftentimes it’s cheaper to buy separate drawers of the same theme.
Desino L Shape
This brand has been consistently known for producing an Amazon’s Choice product. Thousands of people have loved great reviews of this one, so I V Gamers can feel comfort and making a purchase on this gaming desk. It also provides a great Style, and even supports a standing desk converter for your monitor / keyboard setup.
Husky Workbench with Saw Tables
“Husky 6 foot work bench from Home Depot sturdy as a rock.” — Isaac
Another great example of using the workbench concept with an alternate form of using a desk stand. This person used a conventional sawhorse stand that is conservative and Design. I used this type of desk concept for several years using a white wooden surface.
Pro Tip: if you have a mid-tower gaming PC, the best practice is to actually keep it on top of your desk. This is to prevent dust accumulation from carpet floors and is much easier on your fan system in the long run. It also adds to the style of your setup.
Arozzi Arena
If you have a little bit more money to invest, this would be a desk that is built from high-quality material and will last you up to a decade or longer. A lot of people will purchase this desk during a flash sale or during Black Friday, but there is no shortage of being able to buy it online. If you have time to wait, I would have really consider getting this one on sale.
Pro Tip: if you want to make your setup look even more clean, purchase a bag of zip ties and cinch down all of your cords for better cable management.
FAMISKY Standing Desk
This brand is exceptionally popular for people in a small office space or for a home work area. They have a variety of products on Amazon that ship with conservative packaging and easy setup.
Ikea also sells a different brand for standing desks and it’s worth considering this if you like to stay on your feet to reduce brain fog.
Some people aren’t sure if a game room is worth creating because it requires more dedicated design. But you can do it for any space and if you’re interested, check out my article on these gamers small room game setups for more ideas.
Ironstone L Shape
This is one of the rarest gaming products I’ve seen that has 30,000 positive reviews. This is an Amazon’s choice product, which means it has some of the highest reviews for durability, ergonomics, and functionality. This brand also gives you various sizing options depending on your space.
Home Depot Butchers Block Desk
Another great example of what you can do with a literal slab of wood. This person used cabinets for the supports because he had enough space to put his chair in between. If that’s not the case for you, then I recommend going with plastic saw horses for a conservative design.
If you’re trying to become a competitive player but have doubts about how important a gaming desk really is, check out my article on the biggest reasons a gaming desk matters. There are some lesser know functionality features that they bring to the table during a competitive match (no pun intended).
Lian Li Gaming Desk
This brain is an honorable mention because they do have a select stream of gaming desks. While they are a gaming PC company, that few desks that they do make are designed to support an entire tower. A lot of Gamers prefer to keep their PC on top of their desk.

I’ve grown up in small rooms and out of the two houses I’ve lived in, both of them have been no more than a hundred square feet with other shelves in it. The general consensus is that most people prefer to use Ikea desks with two Alex drawers on both sides. This maximizes portability options as well as the different room sizes that exists in each house.
